Happy Days

Happy Days OOTD

Sunshine and the great outdoors. For the past few Sundays we’ve been enjoying time outside and the little one has been loving watching the birds, planes and helicopters fly past us up in the sky. He’s been loving playing with rocks and shouts out “DUCK” when he sees birds in the garden. Baby D also said his first three syllable word yesterday! – crocodile 🙂

Oh how fast they grow and I’m enjoying every minute of it. This week was a good week. Lots of naps, cuddles and play time. And a productive week work-wise, volunteer-wise and housework-wise 😉 One thing I do need to work on though is this blog. So many things coming up so hopefully I can get organised for you! In the meantime how was your week post-Easter? If you have a little one, what did he/she get up to this week?

Family Fun Day at Brimbank

Community Fun Day – Station Road, Brimbank Shopping Centre
Rotary Club of Brimbank Central Inc.

After Baby D’s final music lesson for the term in Williamstown and some Saturday household cleaning chores, lunch was a no brainer at the Community Fun Day at a local reserve. Organised by the Rotary Club of Brimbank Central there was entertainment, rides and food from 11am to 9pm so Baby D had an array of colourful distractions to occupy him all afternoon!

Filipino BBQ skewers with rice and a coffee & mamon combo from Randy over at Cafe Rende hit the spot as cultural dancers and an Elvis impersonator took over the stage. Baby D went on his first ride on the hot air balloons and turned bright red on his first round because he was holding breath! He’d been staring at them the minute we arrived so I thought he’d enjoy it but as soon as the balloons gained momentum and height, he started looking a little worried. A quick diversion from tears meant some time in the mini animal farm! I saw a piglet and was immediately sold on going in with my little man – that and the fact that it was free! 😉

More dancing and music showcased some of the local talent in the area and the weather was perfect for an afternoon of outdoor fun. I’m so glad there are plenty of exciting things for Daniel to see because watching his face light up is priceless. What outdoor activities do you get up to on the weekends? 🙂

Mamons are super soft sponge cakes with finely grated cheese – yes you read right, cheese! Filipinos are infamous for adding cheese to desserts lol!! – don’t knock it til you try it. These mamons are so good you need to try them!

Daniel loved the watching the animals at the Animals 2 U enclosure – so many different types of animals that he didn’t know where to start!

A great range of performers!

He totally looked like he wanted to ride the balloons but then when he did, he looked like this… 😦

Bumped into some mothers group friends! 🙂

Brunching at Alimentari

Alimentari – Eatery and Delicatessen, 251 Brunswick St, Fitzroy
“Good food and camaraderie”

My first lazy Sunday in what feels like forever so it started with a smooth coffee and catch up at Alimentari. Having never been to this local institution before, I made sure to bring along my camera to capture some happy snaps – I really need to upgrade my mobile to one that takes clearer, brighter photos.

I had an early brekkie of baked beans, toast and egg with my little man so by the time I got to the deli, I wasn’t too hungry. I knew I needed to try at least a little something so Hayley and I decided to share a plate. I normally opt for something along the lines of a big breakfast but the muesli that came out was perfect! – creamy, sweet and so easy to eat, I could have easily finished one on my own :).  It went down very nicely alongside my flat white.

Boy talk, travel talk and relationship talk occupied us as we enjoyed brunch and a walk down the street to Clear It for a spot of quick shopping! Scored myself a jacket for $10 amongst all the Alannah Hill, Jack London and Dangerfield goodies and will definitely back for more and maybe post another shopping haul! 😉

What did you get up to on Sunday? Any other good brunch places to check out – let me know 🙂
