Bump diary #11 – 4 Ways to Stay Stylish and Comfy with your Baby Bump

As you know if you’ve been following my Bump Diary updates (see here and here if you missed the recent ones!), I’ve been looking for tips on how to style my bump! Whether it be where to shop for stylish maternity clothes or ideas on how to style my existing pieces, I have a special treat for you with 3 lovely ladies sharing their tips on how to feel stylish but comfy with your bump with! Plus some bonus fitness tips at the end! 🙂

Chelsea from I Heart Bargains

1) What is a must-have clothing item for pregnant mamas? For me, it was all about a good pair of maternity jeans that I could wear again and again. Click here for the whole range. I also was known to wear mine after the birth because they still allowed comfort during breastfeeding days. If we’re looking purely at corporate then these are brilliant and wear with a blazer (Zara have some great ones).
2) What are some of your favourite online stores for stylish bump wear? Asos is brilliant and has lots of options for growing tummies. I would also check out Cotton On / Supre for stretched tights/leggings/singlets and kimonos. Also see Rock Your Bump for really cute pieces (great skirts & stretch pieces). Check out Country Road / Witchery / French Connection for elasticated waisted patterned pants you can wear to work with a plain white maternity shirt.

1) What’s one tip you have for mamas on how to stay fit during pregnancy?
Stay Active! It doesn’t mean you have to go to the gym everyday and take a Body Pump class, just get out and do something active at least 3 times a week, a nice walk around the local parks or purchase a pregnancy fitness DVD and enjoy some time learning something that maybe new, who knows all those back pains may ease up through exercise.

2) Who are some of your favorite fitness bloggers?
My favourite fitness bloggers.. There are so many. I love Alix from @fabufitmum, Sophie Guidolin from @sophie_guidolin, Natalie from @simplynatalielaura and Tahana Lee from @talkhealthytome. I follow so many passionate fitness influences on social media that I would love to name but although they don’t have blogs like the above which you will see me reading on a regular basis.

Style Saturdays – Daniel struts

Styling Daniel walk

I love the bond these two have shared since Baby D used to kick Daddy from inside my tummy at three, four or even five in the morning! Daddy would come home from his dj club gigs in the wee hours of the morning  and as soon as he came through the bedroom door, my tummy would be poking to the side with Baby D would be in a flurry of action – as if to say “Hi Daddy, glad your home! Come play with me!

Two years later not only do they share a love for food, playtime and riding bikes, Daddy and Daniel seem to share the same sense of laid-back, casual but gorgeous style. Above is a pic of them in the summer months with their sunnies and shorts.

Daniel wears a t-shirt and sandals from Target, shorts from Zara and sunnies from Cotton On Kids.

My April faves

 My April 2014 Favourites

I just read over my blog post below before hitting publish and it seems as though “smoothness” is the theme of the month! From a smooth body to a smooth face thanks to my new skincare fave from Brown Skin Secrets, I hope you end up using one of the below favourites and if you do make sure you let me know what you think and what your April or May faves are 🙂 xx

SkinVitals Eye Brighten cloth eye masks
  Revlon Colorburst Lacquer Balm
Sally Hansen’s Triple Strong nail strengthener
 Brown Skin Secrets Balancing Moisturiser
Brown Skin Secrets Pink Clay and Jojoba Exfoliant
 – Lady Jane Metal Ponytail Bow
  Manicare Exfoliating Gloves

Eye Mask:  I used to apply SkinVitals eye masks after a late night out dancing. These days I use them after a restless night of no sleep due to a teething toddler – around once every couple of months! With puffy eyes that feel hot and tired I apply them soon as I jump into bed and the coolness of the cloth masks feels so good it’s puts me to sleep almost instantly!

Nail Strengthener: I bought this nail strengthener when it was on sale at Woolworths and my nails grew so strong and fast! Of course maintaining a good diet and protecting your hands from detergents also helps with healthy nails. I was surprised at how well Sally Hansen’s Triple Strong nail strengthener worked! I ran out of my Revitanail strengthener a couple of years ago now and haven’t found anything as effective til now.

Exfoliating Gloves: One time at dance rehearsals earlier this year, I brushed past one of the dancers in our crew and her skin was so soft. When I asked her what moisturiser or body butter she used, she explained that she exfoliating gloves. I got onto these bad boys straight after that and have been enjoying the same smooth sensation. Even though I want to use it every single day, I’ve been told that it may be a little too harsh on the skin and to limit my use to once a week.

Lip stain/balm: I love Revlon’s lip stains, balms and lip butters because they don’t leave my lips feeling sticky and heavy like other products so when Target had 40% off all Revlon items I bought 3 of the new lacquer and matte Colorburst range. I’m trying to be extra mindful of the household budget these days so I’ve chosen to purchase these Revlon balms over the Clinique Chubby balms and Tarte Pure Delights. Revlon’s Colorburst balms are easy to apply and leave my lips feeling soft and moisturised. And now with the extended range of lacquer and matte options there are so many more shades to choose from. Check out my Instagram (@jacqfruit) to see the other shades I bought 🙂

Hair ties: I was super excited when I won a Lady Jane gift pack on Instagram a couple of months ago and from the pile of products I received I have been using Lady Jane’s metal ponytails never every day! Totally crushing on how cute they look not only as a hair tie but also as an accessory on my wrist!

Face moisturiser and exfoliant: I was searching for a new face moisturiser to try for a while and it was just fate when I ended up with a gig for a fresh, new brand called Brown Skin Secrets by Skin Naturale. After receiving a few little sample pots I was hooked. Ever since then I have been buying the Balancing Moisturiser and more recently the Pink Clay exfoliant and using them as part of my daily skincare routine. I have combination skin and also have eczema so I love how Brown Skin Secrets uses all natural ingredients (see here) from green tea, rosehip oil, aloe vera and cucumber extract to avocado, sweet almond and manuka honey – it sounds almost good enough to spread on my morning toast and eat for brekkie! The scent is mild and pleasant and after using this product for a few months my pores appear smaller and my face feels soft, smooth and hydrated. Founder Lynn Ross is an inspiration with her research and development of this unique product –  this is a skincare range borne of pure passion and commitment to finding and embracing natural beauty with natural products. If you want radiant and healthy skin, then check out the new Brown Skin Secrets range online here or at a reputable day spa near you. For daily tips on beauty and skincare you can find Brown Skin Secrets on Instagram (@brownskinsecrets), Twitter and Facebook.

What were your April favourites? Let me know if you used anything awesome enough worth sharing.

Happy Monday everyone!

Happy Days

Happy Days OOTD

Sunshine and the great outdoors. For the past few Sundays we’ve been enjoying time outside and the little one has been loving watching the birds, planes and helicopters fly past us up in the sky. He’s been loving playing with rocks and shouts out “DUCK” when he sees birds in the garden. Baby D also said his first three syllable word yesterday! – crocodile 🙂

Oh how fast they grow and I’m enjoying every minute of it. This week was a good week. Lots of naps, cuddles and play time. And a productive week work-wise, volunteer-wise and housework-wise 😉 One thing I do need to work on though is this blog. So many things coming up so hopefully I can get organised for you! In the meantime how was your week post-Easter? If you have a little one, what did he/she get up to this week?

He’s learning so much and taking in everything that we bring to his attention and, loving every minute of it! A few weeks ago he was finally able to rock the J’s that he was given by one of his godmothers so hope you enjoy his little get up!

Fresh Baked “DJ in Action tshirt” (in homage to his dad!)
