Bump Diary #14 – 32 week update

How far along are you? 32 weeks and 5 days (this post was scheduled to go out this past Monday!!)

How big is baby? This week Baby weighs as much as a coconut. On average around 41.1cms long and weighing just over 1.5kg and heading into a growth spurt, beginning to plump up with essential fat that is accumulating underneath its skin.
Body and changes:
Weight gain I’m sure I’ve gained heaps of weight again this week feeling a little more uncomfortable with my walk definitely turning into a waddle these days.
Stretch marks Those little faint lines I first started seeing last week are definitely stretch marks. I saw them a lot more prominent in the mirror yesterday morning and when I realised that they were stretch marks I immediately felt surprised as I thought that since I didn’t really get many in my first pregnancy, it would be the same with this second one. Wrong! After a few minutes, I got used to the fact that they’re normal and are only a sign that a human life is growing within me and I have accepted that it’s all part of the journey of motherhood.
Sleep I’ve been finding it really uncomfortable to sleep these days and need pillows around me to help me get into a comfortable position. Mr D has also been having a few nightmares this week for some reason…and he’s been waking up a few times in the middle of the night crying :(
Maternity clothes I bought a black top and some leopard print pants from Target the other day and they’re so comfy even though they’re not specifically maternity wear! I’ve been pairing them with a black blazer to dress them up a little for work :)

The Other Stuff:

Reflux is still hanging around this week. I’ve been getting Mr D to learn how to put his shoes on by himself this week so as to help me out since I can’t bend over that low these days. My tummy has also been feeling a lot heavier this week and it feels like it’s really weighing down into my pelvis and I can feel pressure down there. Baby is moving so much this week especially when we went for a dip in the pool yesterday!

32 weeks pregnant The Urban Ma

Eating lots of cucumber, tomato and cheddar cheese at work lately
Feeling really out of breath again this week and less mobile – I took the elevator to go down two floors today when normally I take the stairs! Tsk, tsk, tsk!
Needing to get as much as rest as possible as I’ve found I feel super tired if I’m at it all day
Wanting to declutter the desktop on my laptop and sort through all the videos and photos on there
Watching music videos while hanging out at our hotel this week up in the Gold Coast
Bookmarking podcasts and videos to listen to and watch
Noticing how friendly people are on the planes to Mr D :)
Enjoying seeing just how much Mr D has loved flying and travelling with us over the past few weeks. It’s so exciting to see how enchanted he is by everything he sees and everyone he meets. This past week he got to spend some quality time with Daddy, his uncle and his cousin. Even though the two toddlers loved annoying each other, they had a great time!

Simple green smoothie The Urban Ma
My first time making a smoothie and I twisted the wrong thing out of the blender! I managed to save enough for one serving!

week 32 collage

Enjoying the simple things like a delivery of non-alcoholic drinks from Maggie Beer, a strawberry and Golden Gaytime flavored cupcakes and picnics in the park across the road with Mr D.

Daddy: What are you grateful for today Daniel?

Daniel: Thanks to God for Mummy’s arms and for Mummy and Daddy working so we can go on the plane again. LOL!

Have you been continuing to practice gratitude in the past week? What have you been grateful for?

Daniel: Thanks to God for planes and clouds and fast cars at Movieworld.

Bump Diary #12 – 30 week update

How far along are you? 30 weeks and 5 days
How big is baby? This week Baby is as big as a cabbage! On average around 39.9cms long and weighing just over 1.3kg with nearly a litre of amniotic fluid surrounding Baby.
Body and changes:
Weight gain Had another midwife appointment tonight after work and my weight isn’t something that we measure – I still feel quite big compared to this stage of my pregnancy with Daniel.
Stretch marks I think I can see some faint red lines underneath my belly button that I’m guessing are stretch marks? My belly has been soooooo super itchy lately 😦
Sleep Been sleeping ok but not straight through the night due to frequent trips to the bathroom and feeling thirsty and having to go downstairs to get some water (remind me to bring a water bottle to bed!)
Maternity clothes Bought this skirt from Uniqlo this week to wear to work and it is so comfy and warm. It’s not a maternity skirt but it has a good stretch to it

The Other Stuff:

Reflux hasn’t gone away since last week uggh. Finding it really hard to get Mr D ready and changed because he’s just so active and keeps running around. Shoes are the hardest to put on him! I also felt really puffed out after giving him a bubble bath the other night…can’t believe how tired I got so I think Daddy will be bathing Mr D from now on.

Eating lots of veggies and also dark chocolate with roasted almonds…YUM!
Feeling like I get puffed out really easily these days
Needing to get started on getting organised with all the baby stuff – we need to buy another car seat and a few other things as well as getting Mr D’s old baby clothes out and washed
Wanting to declutter more of the garage and my closet!
Watching Monster Truck shows on YouTube…Mr D is obsessed with Monster trucks right now (I have no idea where he got that from lol!) It’s so funny there’s this whole other world of monster trucks and even grown men on YouTube who tape themselves playing with their Hot Wheels – they get like 5 million views on their videos!
Bookmarking blogs to read before heading off to Problogger this week 🙂
Noticing just how animated Mr D can be when he talks to us! He’s so articulate already it’s so cute and endearing to hear all the things he has to say
Enjoying some me time with a manicure this week! #itsthesimplethings I also enjoyed meeting Madriel who works at SBS Radio – she interviewed me as part of their Filipino show about Pinoy food and blogging. I’ll post the link up when the interview goes live if you’re interested in listening in 🙂 We also enjoyed some family time this week with a couple of birthday parties and a baptism.

Daddy: (Daddy didn’t even have to ask Daniel what he was thankful for most of this week! – as soon as he finished with his prayers he launched into listing so many things…it was so funny!)

Daniel: Thanks to God for Mummy’s nose and my bed and thanks to God for the bones in Mummy’s arm (lol!!)

How was your week last week? What did you get up to?

Bump Diary #10 – 29 week update

Happiness is homemade The Urban Ma 29 weeks pregnant

How far along are you? 29 weeks and 5 days

How big is baby? This week Baby is as big as a butternut pumpkin! On average around 38.6cms long and weighing just under 1.2kg. Baby’s muscles and lungs are continuing to mature and Baby’s bones are hardening – that might explaining the stronger movement I’ve been feeling and I can know actually see bumps in my tummy when Baby pushes out! Looks so freaky!

Body and changes:

Weight gain Haven’t weighed myself this week but feeling good despite the fact that I’m getting more and more uncomfortable bending down to put my shoes on and pick things up off the ground.

Stretch marks Continuing my daily routine of belly butter in the mornings and oil in the evenings

Sleep I’ve been a little uncomfortable this week and needing more pillows around me to get into a position where I can fall asleep. Ugghhh

Maternity clothes? Been loving these black work maternity pants I got from my mum! So comfy but still corporate-looking 🙂

The Other Stuff:
Reflux is back and this past week I’ve been chewing on one Quick-Eze nearly every night to make the acidic feeling in my throat go away! This week too my body has reminded me yet another way that it is a baby making and baby delivering machine – leaking a little colostrum now and then. Lucky I’ve been wearing thick layers of tops and scarves due to the cold weather! I’ve been so forgetful this week! – left my mobile phone at the self serve checkouts at Coles an misplace my purse twice in 2 days! – luckily for me there are still honest peeps in this hood an when the hubby went back to Coles to check if my phone was there, they had kept it behind the counter for me!

Eating lots more veggies this week after having a dietitian come into work on Wednesday to educate us about general nutrition and healthy habits tips. After having to fill in a quick food diary of what we ate the day before, it highlighted to me that I’m not getting enough veggies.

Feeling like I want to go on another holiday already! I need me some more of that good old Queensland sunshine.

Needing to more organised in the bedrooms and sort through Mr D’s clothes to declutter his wardrobe.

Wanting fresher produce down here like those juicy, sweet, sweet strawberries we had in Brisbane and Noosa.

Missing being able to carry Mr D 😦

Watching those hilarious videos by Mikey Bustos (a Filipino/Canadian Youtuber comedian who does really funny parodies and tutorials about the Pinoy culture – check out some of his videos here and here! LOL!)

Bookmarking where to go for our next holiday (still!) and loads of cute mummy and son pics on Instagram! The one below is from @shalicenoel – I absolutely love her style and all the shoes in her posts!

Noticing how much more tired I am these days. It’s like it’s hit me all of a sudden that I am now in the third trimester with only several more weeks to go!

Enjoying hearing Mr D talk so much and loving how he’s always surprising me! Last night after his bath he found his baby cologne (a gift from my relatives from the Philippines) and he handed it to me and said “Mummy can you put this on me so I smell so good?” LOL! And then when Daddy came to see what was happening, Mr D leaned over and made Daddy smell his neck. So cute! Kids! – where do they get this from?!

Just a few things we did last clockwise from top left: One of @shalicenoel’s posts from Instagram, my healthy brekkie on Saturday morning was avocado, boiled egg, tomato and asparagus with a squeeze of lemon and salt and pepper – it was so goo and creamy!, a morning walk in the park before starting work as we had been told told to do something for our wellbeing and not start work until 11am! It was so lovely…cold but lovely, looks like a bomb hit our room with all the unpacking needing to be put away from our holiday…ugghh I hate this part!

Playing Masterchef at home with Daddy. Seasoning the pork belly for our rolls before putting the lid on the pressure cooker! Turned out sooooo soft and yummy.  Mr D enjoying the tea from the newly opened food precinct at Highpoint Shopping Centre after his cool new haircut at Just Cuts.

Daddy: Daniel do you want to say thanks for anything today?

Daniel: Thanks to God for the the light, the door, my bed, the moon. Thanks to God for Daddy. Thanks to God for Mummy. Thanks to God for Tita (Aunty) Arielle. Thanks to God for Baby. – Just like last week he kept reeling off a list of things he wanted to say thank you for like he just wanted to cover everything!

What were you grateful for last week? Have you been practicing gratitude lately?

Bump Diary #9 – 28 week update

How far along are you? 28 weeks and 5 days

How big is baby? This week Baby is as big as an eggplant! On average around 37.6cms long and weighing 1005 grams. Baby now has eyelashes and can blink her eyes and see the light that filters through my tummy!

Body and changes:

Weight gain Haven’t weighed myself this week but I feel heavier!

Stretch marks Still the same as last week and rubbing heaps of of moisturizer all over my belly especially as we spent some time in the sun and in the water whilst away 🙂 I can see a little more of the linea nigra this week.

Sleep Sleeping very soundly as I had a full week of activity – we had a 3-day conference and I loved every minute of it, meeting new people, ongoing learning and activities. By the end though of every day I was ready to knock out as soon as I hit the bed! Loved all the hotels we stayed at and I’ve got some great posts coming up in the next few weeks!

Maternity clothes? I used the maternity shorts I bought a few weeks ago all last week and they were super comfy! – highly recommend getting a pair if you’re pregnant during the warmer months 🙂

The Other Stuff:
Been burping lots lately! A little annoying but nothing major.

28 weeks pregnant The Urban Ma28 weeks pregnant The URban Ma pregnancy update

Eating lots of mandarins and big breakfasts

Feeling relaxed and inspired after a week of both work and pleasure with colleagues and family. Feeling so blessed.

Needing to find a name for Baby! Can’t decide on anything.

Wanting to go back to the warm sun and sea in Noosa. I took Lando for a walk today as the sun was out and shining.

Missing dance classes again after seeing this video on YouTube.

Watching music videos at night on the hotel tv! Can’t believe I’d never seen the “Watch me (Whip/Nae, Nae)” video clip LOL!

Bookmarking where to go for our next holiday.

Noticing how hard my belly gets sometimes!! Like rock hard O_O

Enjoying seeing Mr D’s face light up all week with wonder and excitement at all the new places and things he was experiencing. He was just constantly excited and wanting to run around and check out all his new surroundings.

Daddy: Daniel do you want to say thanks for anything today?

Daniel: Thanks to God for the window…and the door…and the books…and reading…and my pillows…and the stars…(oh my goodness he just kept going and we didn’t know when he was going to stop!) 🙂 Then for most of the week by the time we got to our night time gratefulness exercise…Mr D had fallen asleep he was so tired from all the things he had been throughout the day LOL!

What were one of your favourite memories from last week?

Bump Diary #8 – 27 week update

Empathy The Urban Ma 27 weeks prengnacy update

How far along are you? 27 weeks and 5 days
How big is baby? This week Baby is as big as a head of cauliflower. On average around 36.6cms long and weighing 875 grams. They say it’s common for Baby to get a case of the hiccups around now heheh!

Body and changes:

Weight gain Ok so I weighed myself the other day and I’m already 76kg!!! – I was 76kg at the end of my pregnancy with Mr D and I’m already that weight for this second pregnancy at only 27 weeks. Eeek! The midwife and the doctors don’t seem to be concerned about it so for now I’ll keep trying to just eat well.

Stretch marks Same as last week and still rubbing Palmer’s Belly Butter in the mornings and Bio Oil in the evenings all over my belly and sides. Still feeling so itchy and trying really hard not to scratch but it’s so hard not to! :/

Sleep On Saturday night the hubby and I got almost no sleep at all because Mr D was coughing all night…poor thing 😦 After a long nap yesterday afternoon he looked a lot more rested and energised.

Maternity clothes? I haven’t bought any specific maternity clothes this past week – just some comfy socks and basics and a cool navy blue scarf with silver pinstripes from Sussan that I’d been eyeing for a while now – got excited that they had a sale of 50% off already reduced prices!

The Other Stuff:
Started getting a bit leaky in the boob area this week lol! I had a midwife appointment this week and she found that my blood pressure was just a little higher than normal, so she left it for a bit and then tried again on the other arm. On the second time, the midwife found that my blood pressure was lower. Weird. She said to keep an eye out for any swelling and headaches and to call her if I have any concerns.

Eating Avocado on toast with a squeeze of lemon.

Feeling excited about our trip to Queensland this week.

Needing more pillows around me when sleeping so that I can get into a comfy position, if that’s even a thing!

Wanting to take Lando for walks so both of us can get some exercise, but no such luck with all the rainfall that’s been present here in Melbourne.

Missing being able to eat sushi and pre-made salads – such quick, easy snacks.

Watching re-runs of Friends and it still cracks me up everytime. Ahhhh Ross LOL!

Bookmarking things to do in Noosa and Brisbane.

Noticing other pregnant women and how different all their bumps are in size and shape.

Enjoying cleaning out our garage and decluttering around the home – hahah it’s the simple things. I’ve also been enjoying singing to Mr D in the car – he loves it! When I stop, he says “SING! Sing Mummy!”.

Just a few pics from the week with more catch ups with friends, celebrating successes at work, enjoying some of Arielle’s baking (this week it was cream puffs!) and silly Daddy scaring Mr D with some weird looking citrus in the veggie section at Coles – Buddha’s hands! Eeek!

IMG_6290Mr D loved his new shoes I bought him! Ootd post coming up this week!

gratefuldaniel #7

Daddy: Daniel do you want to say thanks for anything today?

Daniel: Thank you for one mummy and one daddy…and one Tita (Aunty) Arielle and one Tito (uncle) JV and one Lola Ganda (grandma pretty)!

Awww he must’ve really enjoyed lots of family time this week!

Have been practicing gratefulness daily? What are you thankful for this week?

Bump Diary #6 – 25 week update

  Bump Diary #5 – 24 week update

How far along are you? 25 weeks and 5 days
How big is baby? This week baby is as big as a swede. On average around 34.6cms long and weighing 660 grams and able to touch her umbilical cord and stick out her tongue.
Body and changes:
– Weight gain Feeling quite good this week after cutting down on eating huge servings at every meal especially in the evening.
– Stretch marks Again, same as last week and still rubbing Bio Oil and Palmer’s Cocoa Butter all over my bump in the mornings and evenings. I haven’t noticed any new stretch marks.
Sleep I’ve avoided eating anything with too much chilli, garlic and onion later in the day and this has helped reduce the reflux at night. Thank goodness the acidic, burning feeling in my throat has gone away this week!
Maternity clothes?
I bought some leggings and shorts from Bonds at UniHill and bought some maternity denim shorts from Big W for only $9 to wear on our trip in a couple of weeks. I used to wear size 10 bottoms but opted for the maternity size 12 to give me more room.
The Other Stuff: Still using the Dove Cucumber and Green Tea deodorant and now onto the pantyliners…lol! So much production down there. An increase in vaginal discharge is apparently super normal during this time as there is an increase in the production of estrogen and greater blood flow to the vaginal area

Eating lots of mandarins this week and finally got a taste of those delicious looking Kwak cinnamon scrolls
Feeling more energetic due to pregnancy pilates and eating meals that aren’t so huge!
Needing a trip to the hairdresser desperately (still haven’t had time to make a booking! Need a trim and to get my ends coloured.
Wanting D to stop saying “no” in such a forceful tone and wanting him to keep still when it’s change time – it’s so hard to chase him around trying to put his clothes and socks on!
Missing Summer but enjoying the winter layering and scarves
Watching Masterchef with D yelling out during the plating part “I want that one. I want that one.”
Bookmarking: Pregnancy style
Noticing: My thighs double in size :/
Enjoying hearing D’s little voice singing along to pop songs in the car. His favourites right now are Bad Blood, Sugar and Chivalry is Dead.

 #graceandthanks

The other night we dressed D in onesie for bedtime and as he hadn’t worn a onesie in ages, he loved it and kept running around upstairs saying “Look I’m a baby, look I’m a baby!”. Then last night when he was in his normal pj’s lying in bed he said to me “Mummy I’m not big yet. I’m still a baby. I need baby pyjamas”. Uh oh! Looks like he’ll be a little jealous in a few months time!

#gratefuldaniel #6

Daddy: Daniel do you want to say thanks for anything today?
Daniel: Uhhhh thanks to God for Mater and Chugg (his new car toys) and Mama Lola’s surprise for me (grandma’s little goodies from the post office!).

What have you been thankful for the past week?

In case you missed some updates throughout last week, we checked out the newly opened Filipino restaurant Reynaldo’s, in North Melbourne and had a Travel Thursday throwback to gorgeous Phi Phi Island Resort here! My previous bump diary update is here.
